Victor Gros, french eyewear manufacturer since 1872

The Victor Gros company was founded in 1872 by Edouard Gros in Oyonnax. It has then been ruled by the same family for 5 generations.

In its early stages, the company was specialized in the creation of hair accessories. But during the Roaring Twenties, hair gets shorter and fashion trends change. It’s at the beginning of the 1930’s that Victor Gros starts creating eyewear, placing its know-how of acetate and cellulose at the service of this new activity.

Since the creation of the Traction Production brand in 1989, the tradition of the French manufacturing has been perpetuated: each pair of glasses is designed and produced in the Jura region, France.

In 2017, Victor Gros pursues its development by acquiring Fidela, one of the oldest Jura eyewear manufacturers. Its Airlight brand, which offers thin metal frames, brings a complementary expertise to Victor Gros.

The company is taking advantage of it to create new Traction designs, associating the audacity of acetate with the thinness of metal. It has simultaneously created the Airlight Style line, a new frames collection with a modern and refined look, in order to maintain this manufacturing know-how while ushering it into modernity.

Thus, the two brands of the group are labelled “Origine France Garantie”, which symbolizes and attests the commitment of Victor Gros towards the French eyewear industry.
